Imperial War Museum...

The Imperial War Museum is based in Manchester, Salford.
Walking into the building was the strangest feeling ever, the entrance is small, uneven and dark. I asked why the building was so uneven and they told me that when they interviewed soliders and people from the war times, they said everytime a bomb went off it made their balance go off track and the surroundings uneven.

I really enjoyed the history of all the wars from the past to the present.

When we arrived at the museum we had to do two minutes silence as it was remembrance day. When standing in the museum doing my two minutes silence surrounded by the history and objects from that time, it made me think that if these soliders didnt risk there lives would i even be here? And if i was would my surroundings and how i am today be different ?

Little Black Dress...

The Little Black Dress is the one item that every female should have, no matter what age.
The assignment i was given was to create a hair garment to match a little black dress. The era i choosen was the 1980's, the wild decade to me. Full of different styles like the Flashdance Fitness, Powerful Punks, Rebel Romantics, Crazy Cyndi and Madonna Madness.

So with my thoughts and research i decided to create a hairband with a Madonna style massive bow on the side.
The bow was made from black sheer fabric inspired by the new romantics, tartan inside like Vivenne Westwood and beads sewn on for the glam colourful side of the 80's .
This was the final outcome of my moodboard and hair piece, the picture hasnt really come out good but hope you like it.

Italy...

Saturday 23rd October i woke up at 5am to make my way down to Liverpool airport with my mum for a girly weekend away. I was so excited especially to see the historical places and most of all Italian fashion.
We landed at Pisa at 11am there time, and headed straight to the hotel.
After the adventure of the bus ride to the hotel, we dropped off our bags in the room and started to look around the area.
We stopped off at a little restaurant down a side street with the best view of the tower.

The next couple of days we dotted around shopping and stopping of at little cafes which are mostly run by families or students. Monday morning was an early start walking to the train station in the rain was not a good idea especially with ballet pumps on. Florence was are destination, the one place i wanted to go to.

The city was a place i will never forget, the beautiful views and stylish vintage shops were nothing like home.
Everyone woman had there own individual style no-one was the same making everyone female stand out.
One thing i learnt was that Fashion is not as important as style in Italy.

Make Do & Mend...

1930-1940 fashion.
This fashion era was the time of World War 2 changing fashion in an instant. Clothing was that limited ration books were given out not just for food but for clothing too, making sure that there was enough resources to last throughout the war. Transporting Fashion goods to Britain stopped at an instant when the war started. All forms of transport in this era was used for the war making it impossible to get fashion in, leaving the imagination to the woman of the time to set new fashion trends, and how to work with a budget. So, Vogue came up with a brilliant idea making a book about how to keep your clothes fashionable and how to make them last. The book was called

 'Make Do & Mend'.
